The Vis Moot is the world's largest competition in the field of international commercial law. It takes place annually in Vienna and Hong Kong.
Participants take on the role of counsel in arbitral proceedings: over a five-month period, the participating teams each draft two extensive written submissions in English before the oral phase begins, in which the team prepares for the competitions in Vienna and Hong Kong. This phase teaches the fundamentals of rhetoric and advocacy. The main part, however, consists of the numerous “practice pleadings,” in which team members practise against one another and against the teams of partner universities.
The Humboldt University team has competed with great success for 25 years. Last year's team even won the competition in Hong Kong! 🥇
