Lukas Handreck

Lukas Handreck

Lukas is a law student in his 5th semester at Humboldt University. On finishing high school, he started an apprenticeship at a large German bank, which he graduated as Berlin’s best qualified banking officer of 2019. At present, he is still working at the bank alongside his studies as a consultant for high net worth clients in the fields of estate, and execution and conceptual design of charitable foundations. Furthermore, Lukas has been an important part of the Dresden Ullersdorf German Second Division golf team for over 5 years. In that time, he has won various regional championships with his golf team. In his spare time Lukas keeps himself in shape by doing CrossFit. He also loves working with his bee colonies as he is an avid apiculturist. He is fluent in English and has basic knowledge of Latin.

Elisa Henke

Elisa Henke

Elisa is studying law in her 3rd semester at Humboldt University in Berlin. She already gained practical experience starting in her second semester as a student assistant in an international notary's office and at the Chair of Civil and Commercial Law of Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wagner LL.M. (Chicago). Elisa is is a scholarship recipient of the “Stiftung der deutschen Wirtschaft”. Prior to starting her studies, she worked at the European Parliament and in international aid organisations for refugees. Since 2015, she has supported refugees in NRW and in Greece, winning the Bensberg Citizens Award for Voluntary Engagement in 2018. In 2019, she won the state prize in the history competition of the German President and organised a European conference with the Körber Foundation. She currently works as a mentor for underage refugees as part of the “Menschen stärken Menschen” campaign. Elisa speaks fluent English, Spanish, and basic Greek. In her spare time she enjoys classical singing, endurance sports and playing the flute.

Josephine Matschie

Josephine Matschie

Josephine is a 3rd Semester student at the Law Faculty of Humboldt University of Berlin. She has gained practical experiences through her internship at the German parliaments and as co-founder of Crystal Global Certification Plc. Additionally, she obtained international experience while living in Ethiopia for a couple of years and attending the German-Embassy School in the capital city Addis Ababa. Furthermore, she completed seminars in Private International Law, English Contract and Commercial Law, as well as English Criminal Law, all of which were held in English. In her spare time, Josephine enjoys spending time in nature and drinking a cup of tea while talking about everything and nothing.

Nadja Rode

Raoul Sievers

Raoul is in his 7th semester of law studies at Humboldt University and has completed his specialisation (Schwerpunkt) in corporate and business law. He is currently gaining practical experience as a working student in an international commercial law firm. In addition to the German Abitur, Raoul also holds the French Baccalauréat. He is fluent in French and English and speaks advanced Spanish. Over the course of his studies he has gained knowledge in US and French constitutional law, as well as in US business law, and French contract and commercial law. He is a seasoned mootie and has already participated in the national Hans Soldan Moot Court on legal professional law. In his free time, Raoul enjoys making music and playing football for JFK, the law faculty’s student team.

Lennart Sunnus

Lennart Sunnus

Lennart is studying law at Humboldt University of Berlin in his 7th semester and has recently completed his specialisation (Schwerpunkt) in company and corporate law. Aside from his studies he works as a student assistant at the Federal Ministry of Finance. During internships at an international shipping company, a major law firm and at the Labour Court of Berlin, he gained further professional experience in different areas of law. Alongside his studies, he attended multiple courses in American law, specialising in business and regulatory law. In addition to speaking fluent English, he also has good knowledge of French, which he acquired during a student exchange in France. In his spare time, Lennart plays basketball, swims, and enjoys visiting art exhibitions, attending concerts, and exploring foreign cities.

Julia Wachowicz

Julia Wachowicz

Julia is in her 7th semester of law studies. She started studying law at La Sapienza University of Rome and is currently pursuing an LL.M in European and Comparative Law at Humboldt University as part of the European Law School programme. At the beginning of her studies she participated in a summer law school at Bocconi University in Milan. Last year she took part in a course in maritime law organised by the City Law School (the City University of London). Most recently she completed a training in international arbitration at Leiden University. Julia is fluent in English, Italian and Polish. She is now improving her German and has a basic knowledge of French. She is passionate about learning new languages and travelling, and likes spending her free time being active outdoors in nature.

Ina Frieling (Coach)

Ina is a trainee lawyer at the Higher Regional Court of Berlin. She studied law at Humboldt University of Berlin (2014-2020), the University Panthéon Assas in Paris (2016-2018) and the University of Amsterdam (2020-2021). She gained practical experience in international commercial law while working as a research assistant for a law firm in Berlin. Ina participated in the 28th/18th Vis Moot for the University of Amsterdam. She speaks German, French, English and Spanish. In her free time she likes top rope climbing, running and eating Aina’s cakes.

Julia Goos (Coach)

Julia Goos (Coach)

Julia successfully completed her law studies at Humboldt University of Berlin with the First State Examination at the end of 2020. She majored in intellectual property law and gained extensive experience abroad during her studies, including a one-year stay in London and Sydney. She was a scholarship holder of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes). Julia has gained a wealth of practical experience over the course of her five years as a student assistant at the European Law School, as well as during numerous internships at international law firms and in the European Policy Department of the Federal Ministry of Finance. She is currently working as a research assistant at the European Law School at the chair of Prof. Dr. Dr. Stefan Grundmann and is pursuing her doctorate in civil law under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Giesela Rühl. In her doctoral studies she is supported by the Elsa-Neumann-Scholarship of the State of Berlin. Julia is fluent in English and has good knowledge of Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys playing the cello, piano and clarinet and is passionate about other cultures, travelling and music. She was a participant in the 24th/14th Willem C. Vis Moot Court in 2016/2017.

Aina Hannisa (Coach)

Aina studied law at University College Cork, Ireland, before moving to Berlin where she completed an LL.M. in International Dispute Resolution at Humboldt University of Berlin in 2019. She was a part of the Quercus Talented Students’ Scholarship Programme which enabled her to  continue playing piano, violin, harpsichord and organ in parallel with her law studies. During the course of her bachelor’s degree, she also spent a year studying abroad at Université de Montréal, Canada. Over the years, Aina gained significant practical experience working in the arbitration team of a major international law firm in Frankfurt, as well as in the corporate department of one of Ireland’s largest law firms in Dublin. Aina spent the last two years working for the International Dispute Resolution LL.M. at the chair of Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wagner, and now works there as a research assistant and an academic coordinator of the programme . Aina participated in the Vis (East) Moot in its 27th/17th season in 2020, and coached the Humboldt University team last year for the 28th/18th Vis (East) Moot. Aina speaks native English and German, fluent Indonesian and has basic knowledge of French. Aina is an avid rock climber, and loves running, cycling, and baking cakes for the Humboldt team meetings.

Lara Kerber (Coach)

Lara is studying law in her 7th semester at Humboldt University of Berlin. She recently completed her specialisation (Schwerpunkt) in contract law, with a focus on private international law and international arbitration. To accompany her studies, Lara completed internships in the German Parliament and at the U.S. headquarters of an international company. Currently, she is working as an intern in a boutique arbitration law firm. Before moving to Berlin, Lara lived in the United States for eleven years, where she obtained her High School Diploma in Radnor, Pennsylvania. She speaks both native English and German. In her spare time, she loves travelling, doing yoga, and long-distance running. Lara was a participant in the 27th/17th Willem C. Vis Moot Court.

Oguzhan Samanci (Coach)

Oguzhan Samanci (Coach)

Oguzhan studied law at Humboldt University of Berlin and at King’s College London and graduated in March 2021. He currently divides his time between working as a research assistant to Professor Dr. Gerhard Wagner and as a research assistant in the dispute resolution practice of CMS, focusing on international arbitration. Prior to his graduation, he gained practical experience working for the International Dispute Resolution LL.M. program at Humboldt University of Berlin, at two international law firms and at the German Parliament. Oguzhan participated in the 26th/16th Willem C. Vis (East) Moot. His team reached the quarter-finals in Hong Kong and he was awarded an individual honourable mention for his performance as an oralist. Having coached the Humboldt University of Berlin team for the 28th/18th Willem C. Vis (East) Moot, Oguzhan decided to stay on board and continue coaching this year. He speaks English, German and Turkish fluently and has basic knowledge of French.
